Ruslan gets accepted
We got all the clearances from our doctors Friday and so we officially signed the paperwork which says we accept Ruslan for adoption. The next step, the paperwork gets sent to court, a court date is set, and within 4-6 weeks we return to Russia to appear before a judge to finalize the adoption and bring him home.
We could probably be excited at this point, but we will have to go home and wait, and I will have to do all the talking in court, and who knows what I could say before a judge that would mess up this adoption ("If Ruslan's growth development isn't on track in the next few years, can we bring him back to Russia to receive some of the same steroids that you give your USSR Olympic women's swim team? ... Or ... "How did your Soviet Red Army hockey team lose to a bunch of American college kids in 1980, anyway?")
Thank goodness an interpretor can be a filter for my potential indiscretion.
