Miss Julie

We left Mississippi on Friday morning to head back to Mom's place in Louisiana for one last night. On our way, we stopped in Baton Rouge for a quick visit with my dear friend Julie. Julie works in and around the Louisiana capitol building for the lieutenant governor.
I really wish I could have spent more time with Jules, but it wasn't in the cards this trip. The kids needed some eagle eyes on them at the camp, especially with all the water, and I was afraid to drive down to BR even for the day. I was so glad we at least got to see Julie if even for a short visit on the Pentagon Barracks grounds, which is just across the lawn from the capitol. Julie brought the kids little wooden airplanes, which you can see them holding in these photos.
In these photos you'll see us sitting in the Pentagon courtyard with the capitol in the background; Anna sniffing a yet-to-be-fully-developed Magnolia flower; the kids on the balcony of one of the Pentagon buildings; and a pretty picture of the kids in front of what in my dreams would have been an Azalea bush (I really wanted to find some nice full Azalea bushes on this trip down South).
By the way, we're back home in South Dakota. What a homecoming. Reuniting with Michael aside, I say this sarcastically. We stepped off the plane to rain. After hugs and kisses and the kids opening a present from their daddy, we loaded up our bags and drove straight to a restaurant for a late dinner. By the time we got home, big fat snowflakes were coming down very pretty. No wind or anything, but it was accumulating fast. When we awoke this morning, some 10-12 inches of wet heavy snow had fallen and we had no electricity. We were without power for about 6 hours! That's spring season life in the Black Hills, I guess.
I'll be posting more fun random family pics from the camp within the next day or so. Got a lot of school priorities on Monday.
