The Snowy Day

Well, you guessed it.

A third blizzard hit us within a two-week period. Technically, I'm not sure if our house was part of the blizzard or just the winter storm. Doesn't matter. We probably got another foot of snow and then some. Easy. Of course this is on top of all the other snow. The local newspaper last week, before this storm, had an article about this being the eighth snowiest winter on record! How about that?

The snow started very gently Friday morning as we were at the kids' Montessori school. (I've been spending a LOT of time there recently volunteering.) By afternoon, it was starting to come down at a good clip, but was just so pretty falling down so gently. It can be kind of mesmerizing, actually. (Even more so if you're driving at night and big white flakes are reflecting off your headlights and they're coming straight at your windshield. I remember this more so from my Chicago-area days. I guess I don't drive too much at night anymore. But I digress.)

Anyhoo, it rained snow all the rest of the day and night long and on up until about 8 o'clock Saturday night. We hunkered down. I'm just glad this happened on a weekend this time. No more canceled school days for the kids. Or me!

Here are a few obligatory pictures. I tried to capture something different, as I know all these snow pictures are starting to look the very same! We truly, really do have a lot of snow! In all the years I've been away from the South, and throughout five years in Chicago, three years in upstate New York and our three winters here, I don't recall having so much snow accumulated all around my home. It's nuts!

I hope you get some Spring weather soon! (or maybe blizzards are Spring weather in your neck of the woods?)
If it makes you feel better, we have been having snow and cold weather too. I am so tired of it!
Loved the photo of Shreve with snow on his face! Cute!
