Happy Birthday, Daddy

We celebrated Mikel's birthday Wednesday with a homemade chocolate cake, handmade presents from the children and eating out for dinner.
The children spent a good bit of time Monday and Tuesday making Mikel's presents. Anna wanted to make him a wand (the same as what she asked for and received for her birthday), while Alexander wanted to make Daddy a car. I thought, "We can do this!" So we did the best we could with empty paper towel tubes, a shoe box, construction paper, tape, markers, glitter, glue sticks and colored pipe-cleaner things used in art projects. Alexander even drew a picture of Daddy behind the wheel (see photo), his first stick man drawing that I know of.

Alexander's tastes are evolving. He now likes chocolate, as you can see. I remember last year while making Mikel's chocolate birthday cake Alexander declared "I no like choklit."

Sorry Mikel missed my singing on his birthday! It was my better days for singing that number.
Dad
Oh, Mikel, I am so sorry that I missed your birthday, also. Bobby should have called me and we both would have sang together. I know that you would have loved that.
Love Aunt Connie
