The Fair & School Update

We went to the fair here about three weeks ago, and I'm only just now getting around to posting photos. The children got to ride ponies again (they also did at the circus in May) as well as their first-ever carnival ride! They loved pretend driving the little cars, which simply went 'round and 'round. We also saw lots of farm animals and a little rodeo calf-roping action.
Speaking of needing to get around to stuff: I've also been jotting down little conversations and phrases from the children. I've got a whole summer's worth of notes to transcribe, as I knew I'd want to remember. Hopefully I'll soon get around to sharing these nuggets with you.
On a different note altogether, school seems to be going well for the children. We heard from their Montessori teachers that Anna has remembered a lot of things from last year and is a leader, which we know. As long as she's not too much of a leader, if you know what I mean. When I picked them up yesterday I got a report that the kids couldn't keep their hands off each other, just wrestling around kind of stuff, whatever that means. I can't imagine they were literally rolling around on the floor the whole time but whatever. The point is that this behavior was constant, all morning long. Sounded like the kids didn't obey the teachers in stopping. It started out playful and got a little aggressive (again, not exactly sure what that means). But the teachers didn't describe it as fighting, so that's a good thing. The children were grounded, and I got a report of "perfect" when I picked them up today. Hopefully, they learned a lesson.
I've received a few reports from Anna's YMCA preschool teacher that Anna is very focused and intense about whatever it is that she's doing and doesn't always want to leave it when told that it's time to go or time to move on to something different. I guess that's a nice way of saying she doesn't always mind very well. The teacher is super sweet, though, and I really like her. Anna's also had a three potty accidents at this school, and I'm sure they're not too thrilled about this. Two of the accidents happened in the bathroom. Apparently she couldn't get her pants down fast enough.
As for Alexander's afternoon school, it seems OK from what I can tell. This is the one school where I feel a bit disconnected, like I'm not getting much from the teachers. I feel like I really only know the director, who is involved with the teaching somewhat. But it seems like someone different is always outside with the children when I pick him up. Also, the first few days I had a heck of a time getting Alexander to want to leave (he was too busy playing on the playground), but thankfully this defiance was short-lived. But because of this my main goal has been to just get him out of there (while also trying to control his sister who by now has begun to run around on the playground as well), so unless it was convenient with a teacher standing right there I haven't make a point to chase them down and ask questions. I need to do it, though, because I don't even know if he's been napping. I don't think he has, and I can't get a clear answer out of him on this subject.
P.S. I just realized that I posted the wrong video! Oh, well. I'd intended to post a short clip of the children riding the ponies. This one of them riding the car carnival ride feels way too long and should have been shortened. But I'm not going to repost. It takes too darn long.

It is very apparent that ya'll are having such a wonderful time with the kids at the fair and everywhere. Enjoy the ride. Love Aunt Connie
Fran, I understand how you feel about pre-school. At Liz's preschool right now, we drive up and the teacher's bring the kids out, and there's not much time to chat at all. I saw her teacher at a field trip and we chatted a bit. I asked her how things are going, and she made the comment that there are "quite a few wiggle-worms" in the class. Seemed like that was her nice way of saying, "Troublemakers." I asked her how Liz is doing, and she said: "oh, she's quite the wiggleworm and very chatty."
I took that to mean: She's a double-troublemaker." Yikes!
I know they enjoyed the fair. I wish I could have been there to enjoyed the kids.
Love Dad
