Extreme Ouchie

Alexander was circumcized today. Apparently, it's not a custom practised on boys in Russia, or at least not those in baby homes. After waiting three months to get in to see the urologist, he told us at our consultation just Thursday he'd had a cancelation (I wonder why?) and could perform the operation first thing Monday. So, we roused both children from their sleep at 5 a.m., got ourselves to the hospital and were home by about 9:30 a.m. Alexander had to be put under, which was the most concerning part for us. But they said he handled it all just fine. There's definitely been some tears shed, but it's amazing how life goes on. We've only given him regular children's Tylenol just two times the whole day (though we do have a prescription containing codeine just in case). Anna went along for moral support. We'll go back for a follow-up in about 10 days. Until then, mom's going to have to be very careful with the diaper changes and cleaning.

We send our well wishes to Alexander.
Because of his CHD Dylan wasn't circumcized until he was about 8 months old, so we feel your pain. It is definitely more tricky when they are up and active but it looks like Alex was a trouper.
I love all the photos, the children are so beautiful and you all look so happy. it is fun reading about your daily adventures!
Take care,
Quyen
