Our last night of freedom, spent in a hotel lobby with a laptop

This is it. Wednesday at 9 a.m. we leave for Cherepannov to pick up Yana. So by lunchtime she will be with us -- FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. So this will be the last night that Fran and I will be able to:

Sleep in until whenever we want.
Go to a movie if we feel like it.
Watch a TV show with profanity in the middle of the afternoon.
Watch LSU and Michigan on a Saturday afternoon uninterrupted.
Eat whatever unhealthy dinners or snacks when we want.
Join clubs, play in recreation leagues, sing in choirs, and not worry about how many nights a week the commitment is.
Walk around the house in whatever state of undress we wish.
Let the dog ride in whatever seat he wishes during car rides.
Take midday naps because we're tired or have a headache.
Watch TV soap operas.
Make a impromptu decision and just do it.
Oversleep, but still only need 5 minutes to get ready and leave the house to avoid being late.
Spend money on ourselves, just beacuse we see something that would be neat.
Eat out a couple nights a week.
Not worry about the volume of our voices (although the Dickeys may not have such a thing as an 'indoor voice').
Pass gas and blame it on the dog (well, I guess maybe there are more options for blame now).
Spend a few extra hours at work whenever necessary with no advance notice.
Getting up at any hour of the morning and blogging.

A lifetime of doing what we want, when we want, will come to an end. We're going to have to act like real adults now.

And that's OK. About time we started living for others.
