Alexander's Happy Half Birthday

Alexander's Montessori school yesterday celebrated his half birthday, which is what they do for those summer birthday boys and girls.
It's such a neat little observance.
The child holds a globe of planet Earth and walks around the make-shift sun once for each year he has been alive. As Alexander made his way around I talked about milestones he reached during each year of his life.
Afterward, he came up to sit with us as we read a small little bio sheet we'd put together for him. It included stuff like his favorite color (blue), what he wants to be when he grows up (policeman), etc. For his favorite food, he answered spaghetti and, like the son of a Southern gal, cornbread!
He'd picked out a book to share with his friends, so I read "Officer Buckle and Gloria." It's about a police officer and his dog.
We also brought snacks for his friends, which Alexander got to put in everyone's backpacks to take home.
He's 4 and a half, by the way.
P.S. Cute little tidbit. When we arrived at the school Alexander's little "princess" named Eliza brought his slippers to him. They call each other prince and princess and are so darn cute together. (The kids remove their shoes when they walk in the door and wear their slippers. Something about how it reduces the noise factor and promotes a more productive learning environment.)

He has come a long way in many ways in that picture. He is really getting to be a big little boy.
