Until Next Year

I’ve always felt it bittersweet to take down the Christmas tree and holiday decorations. There is a certain sense of emptiness, isn’t there?
I’ve always tended toward the nostalgic anyway.
This year was especially bittersweet, of course.
And I made it even sadder by, don’t laugh, listening to Barry Manilow’s “It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve” and Dan Fogelberg’s “Same Old Lang Syne.” Over and over. Again. (Told you not to laugh.) I just couldn’t help myself.
I was reunited with them on New Year’s Eve when I scanned YouTube for the more traditional “Auld Lang Syne” song. I always loved Barry from a certain era.
So on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, I had a couple dates with my iPod Touch. And together we tearfully put away this holiday season.

I feel the same way. That is why we wait until after my birthday (Jan 2) to take down the decorations. It is too depressing having a birthday AND no decorations at the same week!
Love all your recent posts. Too much snow though. Poor Mikel could use a snow blower!
Beautiful tree and family.
