Alexander Turns 4

Alexander turned 4 today. Happy Birthday!

We had to have the birthday party (just a little family party) super early — like 8 a.m. — because the kids are in soccer lessons this week starting at 9 a.m. and we were then going straight to the golf course so Alexander could use his new birthday clubs.

Michael took the day off work to spend with Alexander and the family, including going to soccer lessons.

After an hour of soccer, it was over to the our YMCA golf course.

But there was some sort of tournament going on in the morning, so it was back to home to let Alexander play in the dirt and rocks with his new birthday Tonka bulldozer (which, actually, I think, is a front-end loader but it kind of does the same thing.

He could not have been more thrilled to receive a bulldozer. It was the last thing he talked about before going to bed the night before. He's such a boy!

After a quick lunch we then headed over to the movie theater where we saw Ice Age 3 in 3-D.

Michael and the kids sure have been taking in a lot of movies lately, especially 3-D ones, but this time I tagged along.

Even at a matinee showing, and with 2 kids, the tickets cost $38, and then we spent $15 at the concession stand. The movies are not inexpensive! But this movie sure was cute.

After the movie we then headed back to the golf course, where the tournament had ended. Since we're Y members, it cost us a whole dollar for the family to play. Well, maybe it was a buck and half. I can't be 100 percent since Michael was paying. You can't beat that.

The children did pretty good, considering they're only 4 and 4 (yes, for a whole month and a half they are the same age ... Anna will turn 5 at the end of August).

We all played three holes. (By now it was already a loong and hot day and 3 holes with the many strokes needed by the kids — and me! — was about all we could handle.)

Then back home for some more outdoor bulldozer fun and birthday Wii games.

Whew. I'm pooped.

WOW! I can't imagine doing a b-day party at 8 a.m. Sounds like tons of fun. Is Anna starting Kindergarten this fall or waiting till next year because of her August B-day? Liz turned five in June and will go this fall but will be one of the youngest ones in her class.

Hey, Lisa
Anna will start kindergarten this fall but no doubt be one of the youngest, too, as her birthday is Aug. 27, which is just days before the cutoff. She's ready academically, and we hope socially/maturity-wise she'll be able to hang in there!
