Actual Fourth of July

So on Saturday, which was actually July 4th (and a gorgeous day to boot), we celebrated all over again.

We started the day by grilling out hot dogs for lunch and then making some super rich homemade ice cream. The kids had plenty of outdoor play time and we called some of Fran's Southern relatives.




Later, after cooking hamburgers on the grill, we packed up the whole family (that means Shreve, too) and headed into Rapid City to see if we couldn't see some fireworks yet.

I have to say, I was very impressed with the city's fireworks show. (I might have had some low expectations, though.)

All in all, it was a fun Fourth of July weekend.
