School Picnic

We're back from the year-end school picnic. Turned out to be down-right chilly today, especially when the wind would blow. But at least it did not rain.

The children played on the playground equipment for a while before being called over for the program and then food. They all sat together and sang a few songs with dance moves. One of these photos shows the children coming back over to the parents to do the dreaded Chicken Dance. Why this song/dance, I haven't a clue. Well, maybe I do. I guess it's about an animal and offers dance moves suitable for young children. Exactly. Michael loves this song so much he banned it from our wedding reception!

Anyway, there were lots of thank-yous and such and then the children were called up for their diploma and a little keepsake scrapbook featuring photos of them throughout the school year.

And then we ate.

Before leaving the children gave each teacher a homemade little thank-you and gave away some hugs. The children made bookmarks for their teachers, since teachers typically love to read. Anna decorated one side and Alexander the other. I got them laminated at an office store and then strung some pretty grosgrain ribbons through the hole.

That's my news for the day!

P.S. Here are a few bonus shots of the children riding their bikes back home after the picnic.

What fun! Looks like a great time. We have "preschool graduation next Friday" and I can't wait to see what they do. I've asked Liz about some of the songs and surpisingly the ones she's told me about are ones I hadn't heard of. Should be interesting. I'm glad I saw your note about gifts/cards to the teacher. Not sure I would have thought of that. Oops!
