Holiday Lights

On Saturday we visited a local park, whose storybook characters are all aglow for the holidays.
The children's school hosted a family potluck in the park's party house, which was extremely crowded. For the event, Anna helped me make a easy no-bake cheesecake topped with cherries.
After eating we walked through the park and admired the lights. We even got to see two real reindeer! All the children were asking, "How can they fly?"
In other Christmas news, we're still working on the tree! It's mostly done, but I still need to get to the little trim details.
I feel like I'm just treading water over here trying to keep up. I'm not sure why. I've been doing a lot of Christmas crafty things with the children. More on this later.
I'm volunteering at their school one day a week and Alexander is doing physical therapy twice a week for his outtoeing. More on this later.
And we've also been doing quite a bit of DIY home projects, including completely overhauling our master bath.
Mikel is Mr. Everything. Besides being a genius, he's turned into a little electrician and plumber and carpenter and landscaper. Who knew!
In our master bath, he took out our old boxy sink and installed a pretty pedestal sink. He's also changed out the light fixture and mirror. I had to retexture parts of the wall and then paint the whole thing a new color. Maybe I'll post some before and after pics.
Oh, and on Thanksgiving night our kitchen sink faucet decided to explode, so on Black Friday I braved the crowd (which actually wasn't too bad at the hardware store) and made an executive decision on a new faucet, which Mikel then installed.
In fact, I've made many trips to the hardware store lately, what with picking out and measuring sinks and light fixtures and getting new plumbing extension tubes and such. Last night we purchased our third set of kitchen/dining overhead lights, which I suppose we'll install tonight. Hopefully, we'll be happy with these!
