May Blizzard: Part 2

So we passed the blizzard time by making scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast and then a fun tent downstairs in the playroom. I was thinking about what kids do to pass the time indoors when it's rainy out and I remembered the fun tents we used to make with chairs, TV trays and blankets at my grandmother's house. I'm sure we probably made them at my own house, too, but for some reason I only remember the tunnel-like tents we made in her den. Gosh, what fun that was. So, I did the same for my kids, and they loved it. It was like getting a new toy. Of course, they kept making the sheet fall off, so I'll have to come up with a more secure tent if we're to do this often.

By 2 p.m. Friday I think the blowing snow had finally stopped. Gray skies suddenly turned blue, and the sun caused the snow to glisten like diamond dust. Then we ventured out. The kids slid down snowdrift banks, shoveled snow with their sand toys and kept losing their gloves. Anna's boots came off in the "deep" snow several times and I had to rescue her feet. At the end of the day we made a tiny snowman. Well, I made the tiny snowman, and the children both told me they thought he looked scary!

Here are tons of photos of our cabin fever tent fun from the morning hours and our fun in the snow during the afternoon hours.

And, a couple of bonus videos.

P.S. I'm writing this post two days later, on Sunday, when it is back up to 60-plus degrees outside and the much of the snow has melted!

Oh, I love seeing all the snow, especially since we hardly ever see any snow. Love Aunt Connie
