Who says two are more expensive?

Boy, the second reaction I had after seeing these two children was ... if they are only 5 months apart, does that mean we will face the "Noah's Ark" dilemma? Buying two of everything?

I thought we might be referred two children which were further apart in age, thereby allowing thrifty dad to buy gender-neutral clothing for the oldest (track suits, t-shirts without flowers or butterflies on them, sweatsocks) so that they could be worn by the younger one a year or two later. And even if the clothes weren't gender-neutral, I was fully prepared to convince
the younger one that cross-dressing was fashionable among toddlers, and 'No, lots of little boys wear blouses to school.'

In a family like this, instead of hand-me-downs, do we call it hand-me-acrosses?

All I know is, the first word we'll teach them is not 'mommy' or 'daddy' but 'share' ... and the first sentence will be 'No, that doesn't look silly on you' ... and the second sentence will be 'That outfit isn't dirty, your sister can wear it tomorrow.'

(Just kidding, momma)
